Your Friendly Neighborhood: Podcasting

Hey! Welcome again to my blog. I hope you are all fine.

I produced a podcast this past week. I had a choice among the several podcast formats, and since I play the guitar and enjoy singing, I decided to write a song or chant. It was enjoyable, just as I had hoped it might be.

I had to come up with an 8–10-line chant or song that the character would sing to identify herself or himself for this assignment. I decided to write a song as if Spider-Man were introducing himself, using him as my superhero of choice. The phrase "Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man" is one of my favorites from the film, and I utilized it for the repeated phrase. I took the rhyme into consideration when I was creating the words, and I created a chord progression that was simple to pronounce and upbeat for young listeners. When my song was finished, I appreciated the Beatles-inspired mood I felt, even though I had initially intended not to mold the song.

Here is the lyrics of the song:

I'm Spider-Man

I'm half a spider half a man

All the time fighting with crime

So you can count on me anytime

It's your friendly neighborhood Spider-Man

It's your friendly neighborhood Spider-Man

You can see me over the buildings

You can see me stopping trains

Cause the evil doesn't sleep at all

But I promise I care about you all

It's your friendly neighborhood Spider-Man

It's your friendly neighborhood Spider-Man

I had a lot of fun doing this podcast assignment because I was doing something I love. You may be sure that I'll give my future students this activity. Even though I chose to write songs for podcasts, there were other fascinating choices that I could have made. I was almost seduced, for instance, by a compelling narrative or a good concept to change the world.

This was all for today. Please be kind to yourself.
